Here in Kolkata we have a perfect mixture of past and present. When there is the most sophisticated bridge to cross the river Ganga, there are manually driven boats also. Boats are very important mode of transportation here in Kolkata as they are very cheap. So many goods come from the village to the city in boats. The boat owners almost spend their entire life on these boats. They sleep here, they cook here, they take their bath here also. They were very important part of our literature, but with time they lost their place, big and modern bridges overshadowed them.
