You may find the title a little strange, But 15th April is the first day of the new year according to Bengali calender. Here we call it 'Poyla Boishakh' (1st of Baishakh, the first Bengali month). From my childhood we celebrate it with much gusto. We buy new dresses for our near and dear ones, distribute sweets and of course, have lots of, lots of food. This post is for those who do not live in Bengal...

PS: This photograph is taken at Dhakuria Lake in Kolkata, India and this flower is popular as 'Polash' among the Bengalies.Extremely sorry for the fact that I don't know its name in English.
